USS Colorado's Role in 1944 Battle of Tinian
On July 24, 1944, the USS Colorado sustained 22 hits from hidden Japanese shore guns during the invasion of Tinian, resulting in 43 crew members killed and 198 wounded. Despite the damage, the battleship continued to provide fire support for the landings.
