Thousands march in İstanbul for Women’s Day despite ban
Thousands of women marched through İstanbul to mark International Women’s Day late Sunday, defying a ban on demonstrations. The rally proceeded without incident despite a heavy police presence, Agence France-Presse reported. Although authorities shut several nearby metro stations and issued a ban on demonstrations, the Feminist Night March was permitted to proceed.
