Sabiha Gökçen: A Pioneer Aviator and Symbol of Turkish-Montenegrin Friendship
According to numerous Montenegrin and Turkish sources, the family of Sabiha Gökçen, Turkey's first female combat pilot, originated from the village of Lozna near Bijelo Polje. Her parents left their homeland in the early 20th century after the Balkan Wars and settled in Bursa, where Sabiha was born.
