Report says Georgia uses Russian surveillance software against anti-government protesters

The Germany-based non-profit organisation Algorithm Watch has claimed that Georgian authorities are using Russian facial recognition technology to identify anti-government protesters in Tbilisi. It said the authorities were using Polyface, a programme developed by Papillon AO, a Western-sanctioned Moscow-based firm with ties to Russian security services. The investigation examined how Georgian authorities identified and penalised protesters who have participated in the continuous demonstrations
