Portuguese GNR Identifies Over 11,800 Plots for Clearing Amid Rising Rural Fires

Portugal's National Republican Guard (GNR) has identified more than 11,800 plots of land requiring clearing as part of its 'Safe Forest' operation. The country has seen 2,921 rural fire occurrences up to May 30, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2025, leading to 109 detentions.
