Old Portuguese ID Card No Longer Valid for Schengen Travel
Portugal's traditional 'Bilhete de Identidade' has ceased to be a valid travel document within the Schengen Area. The 'Cartão de Cidadão' and passport are now the only accepted Portuguese documents for European travel, a change attributed to security concerns with the older ID.
