New Southern Highway Critically Needed in Czech Republic Amid Rising Traffic

Traffic census data reveals that a 'missing' southern highway is desperately needed in the Czech Republic, with daily vehicle counts on the D1 near Prague exceeding 107,000. The existing highway network is at breaking point, and construction on the new southern route is expected to begin soon.

Šesticiferná hranice padla. Na dálnici D1 u Prahy projede až 107 tisíc vozidel denně. Data z velkého sčítání dopravy ukázala, že provoz houstne k prasknutí také na dalších tranzitních tazích. Už dnes je proto jisté, že stávající dálniční síť ani po dokončení stačit nebude, zahraniční kamiony potřebují dálnici zcela mimo Prahu.
