Massive Ice Chunk Calves from Greenland’s Petermann Glacier

An enormous iceberg measuring 76 square kilometers and up to 150 meters thick has broken away from Greenland’s Petermann Glacier, marking the largest calving event in 14 years. Scientists are now closely monitoring newly discovered fractures in the remaining ice sheet that raise concerns about further instability.
