Lithuanian Math Exam Results 'Shocking' Amid Lowered Passing Threshold

Mathematics exam results in Lithuania are described as "shocking" as the passing threshold for state matriculation exams has been lowered from 35 to 25 points by the ruling Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, effective from 2026.

Nuo 2026 m., valdančiajai Lietuvos socialdemokratų partijai sumažinus valstybinių brandos egzaminų (VBE) išlaikymo kartelę nuo 35 iki 25 taškų, jau džiaugiamasi šių metų rezultatais. Valdantieji teigia, kad toks sprendimas buvo teisingesnis nei pernai taikytas papildomų taškų pridėjimas. Vis dėlto kritikai abejoja, ar nuolat keičiamos kartelės iš tiesų sprendžia esmines švietimo problemas.
