Japan's Ruling and Opposition Parties Discuss Imperial House Law and Diet Reform

Following a request from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Japan's ruling and opposition parties are set to discuss a bill to revise the Imperial House Law and a bill to reduce the number of House of Representatives members.

国会で与野党の対立が続く中、森衆議院議長が皇室典範改正案の成立を最優先とするよう要請したことを受けて、与野党は取り扱いなどについて協議することにしています。自民・維新両党は、衆議院議員の定数削減法案などの成立も確実に図りたい考えなのに対し、野党は法案を撤回し、予算委員会の集中審議などを確約すべきだとしていて、調整が活発になる見通しです。
