Japanese Parliament Upholds Male-Only Imperial Succession Law
The Japanese parliament has affirmed the continuation of the ancient tradition that prohibits women from ascending the imperial throne. While upholding the male-only succession law, important amendments were also adopted to prevent the throne from remaining vacant.
