Japanese Parliament Upholds Male-Only Imperial Succession Law

The Japanese parliament has affirmed the continuation of the ancient tradition that prohibits women from ascending the imperial throne. While upholding the male-only succession law, important amendments were also adopted to prevent the throne from remaining vacant.

Na císařský trůn v Japonsku ani v budoucnu nesmí usednout žena. Zákon, který potvrzuje pokračování prastaré tradice, stvrdil japonský parlament. Současně ale přijal i důležité dodatky, které v podstatě vylučují možnost, že by císařský trůn zůstal neobsazen, pokud by v rodině nebyl dostatek mužských potomků.
