Hungary's Mandatory Discount Policy Ruled Unlawful by EU Court
Hungary's measure requiring large foreign supermarket chains to offer special discounts in 2023, implemented to combat high inflation, has been deemed a violation of free competition within the EU by the European Court of Justice.

Ungarn hat im Kampf gegen die hohe Inflation zu drastischen Marktmaßnahmen gegriffen. Große ausländische Supermarktketten wurden 2023 zu Sonderangeboten verpflichtet. Das verstößt aber gegen den freien Wettbewerb in der EU, wie der Europäische Gerichtshof (EuGH) am Donnerstag entschied. Ungarns Premier Peter Magyar will bisher daran festhalten.
