Ghana Imposes Import Duties on Travelers Bringing Multiple Mobile Phones

Ghana’s customs authority has announced that passengers arriving in the country with more than two mobile phones will be subject to commercial import duties. The policy aims to curb smuggling and increase tax revenue from electronics imports.

The Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Aaron Kanors, has cautioned travellers arriving in Ghana against carrying multiple mobile phones on behalf of other people, warning that excessive quantities could be treated as commercial imports.
