France backs down on plan to make patients pay more for healthcare

The French government has scrapped plans to double the annual ceiling on out-of-pocket charges for medicines, medical appointments and other healthcare, after criticism from patient groups and health professionals. The cap was due to rise from €100 to €200, but the government will instead pursue a smaller increase linked to inflation.
