Tæpara mátti ekki standa þegar fimm manna áhöfn sigldi uppsjávarskipinu Barða heim eftir vélarupptekt í Færeyjum. Mikil eldsprenging varð í vélarrúmi svo að vélstjóri þurfti að bregðast strax við og kalla skipverja til aðgerða. Ljóst er að hröð viðbrögð þeirra björguðu skipinu.
