Finland Investigates Twelve Suspects in Citizenship Fraud Scheme

Police suspect 12 people obtained Finnish citizenship through fraud

Finnish authorities suspect at least 12 people obtained citizenship through a scheme involving fake employment, manipulated company finances and fraudulent language or study credentials. Another five people had citizenship applications pending when the investigation began. Authorities also identified earlier cases involving people who had already obtained citizenship, but did not investigate them because the suspected offences had passed the statutory limitation period.
