Female mayor in Japan to take maternity leave, possibly a national first
Shoko Kawata, the mayor of Yawata City in Kyoto Prefecture, has announced her intention to take maternity leave, which the city believes could be the first instance of a sitting female mayor taking such leave in Japan.
