FDR's Springwood Estate Bequeathed to US Government in 1943
In 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt bequeathed his family's Springwood estate, comprising 33 acres, to the US government. Roosevelt had significantly enhanced the property throughout his life, including planting over 500,000 trees.
