Akkerbouwer Renze Rispens kwam het tegen in een vakblad en kort daarna stond het op zijn land: quinoa. Het is gezond, rijk aan eiwitten én het kan goed tegen verzilting. Door droogte hebben steeds meer boeren in kustprovincies daar last van. Inmiddels verbouwen meer dan 24 boeren in Nederland het Zuid-Amerikaanse zaad.
