Czech Republic Debates Lowering Voting Age to 16

A proposal to grant voting rights to young people aged 16 and above in local elections is causing a political divide in the Czech Republic, with Prime Minister Andrej Babiš opposing it while President Petr Pavel supports the measure.

Je to návrh, který by v Česku znamenal přelom. Poprvé v historii by mladí lidé od 16 let mohli ve volbách rozhodovat o tom, kdo povede obec či město, ve kterém žijí. Hodně politiků by návrh podpořilo, ale naráží u premiéra Andreje Babiše (ANO) a jeho koalice. Návrh má ale i vlivného zastánce: prezidenta Petra Pavla.
