Czech Government Ends Fuel Price Regulation, Drivers Face Potential Price Shock

The Czech government will not extend fuel price regulation, allowing market mechanisms to dictate prices from Monday, a move an economist warns could lead to a price shock for drivers. The Ministry of Finance stated that the extraordinary market situation has passed.

Vláda neprodlouží regulaci cen pohonných hmot. Cenové stropy budou platit naposledy tuto neděli. Od pondělí se ceny benzinu a nafty budou řídit tržními mechanismy. Podle ministerstva financí už mimořádná situace na trhu pominula. Hlavní ekonom Trinity Bank Lukáš Kovanda ale v pořadu Jak to vidí… varuje, že pokud porostou ceny ropy, může nafta během jediného týdne zdražit až o čtyři koruny na litr.
