Premier Belgii Bart De Wever opowiedział się za przyszłą normalizacją relacji Unii Europejskiej z Rosją. Jego zdaniem dalsze odrzucanie możliwości rozmów z Rosją przez Unię oznaczać będzie brak Unii przy stole negocjacyjnym. Przekonywał też, że europejscy przywódcy prywatnie podzielają jego opinię, ale nie chcą tego przyznać publicznie.
