Lai gan 50 gadi ir ilgs laika posms, Mao portrets joprojām redzams Tjaņaņmeņas laukumā un uz Ķīnas naudaszīmēm. Tāpat Mao politiskā doma joprojām ir daļa no Ķīnas Komunistiskās partijas oficiālās ideoloģijas.
