Thirteen people have died in a cholera epidemic in Chad. Nearly 240 people have been infected with the bacteria, and the mortality rate is 5.4 percent. The epidemic is mostly confined to the northern part of the country, in the Hadjer Lamis region and the city of N'Djamena.
