The US Commission on International Religious Freedom has urged the imposition of sanctions against India’s Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh following reports of religious persecution. The recommendation coincides with the organization’s leader visiting Washington.

The US religious freedom panel, USCIRF, has recommended targeted sanctions on India's Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). India's external affairs ministry has not yet responded to the latest report but has previously repudiated USCIRF's findings as biased.
