Tropical Depression Neneng has slightly weakened but continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, causing significant rainfall in 18 areas across Luzon, Philippines.

Tropical Depression Neneng has officially formed within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), as announced by Pagasa. This marks the beginning of a new weather disturbance in the region.

Tropical Depression Neneng has weakened into a low-pressure area and moved out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Consequently, the effects of the southwest monsoon have also begun to ease.

Classes have been suspended in various areas of the Philippines for Thursday, August 20, due to the intensifying Tropical Depression Neneng and the enhanced southwest monsoon. The weather conditions have already affected over 41,000 families in Mimaropa.

Luzon and the Visayas regions in the Philippines are experiencing moderate to intense monsoon rains, with PAGASA monitoring two low-pressure areas, one of which could intensify into Tropical Depression Neneng.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Mimaropa has intensified its response to communities affected by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Depression Neneng, which impacted over 292,000 people.

Several ferry trips in the Philippines were cancelled on Wednesday afternoon due to rough sea conditions caused by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Depression Neneng.
